It’s time to talk about this year’s goals and oh boy, I have plenty! In my opinion, there’s no better way to improve your life than making a list of goals that match the person you want to become. People usually like to have big goals that need work and effort but tiny and easy goals are also important. Small accomplishments and victories encourage you to keep going and you’re less likely to give up.
I love making lists, I love setting goals and I definitely love planning so let me share with you what kind of list I have for this year.
I always like to make several categories so I know I’m improving my life as a whole. Most people say their goal for this year is to become fit and eat healthy, only focusing on their physical health. How about your relationships? Mental state? Skills? Why would you settle for one category only when in fact all these other things have an impact on your health as well.
Sharing your goals with the world is not easy because it’s very personal, that’s why I’ve been postponing this post, but I thought it will keep me moving. Mostly mine are about being creative, writing and singing, being healthy and evolving mentally. Things that really matter to me.
The feeling of wasting time
This might seem like a lot but I’m that person who needs goals in order to get out of bed in the morning, something to get me excited. I also thought about the feeling I often get at the end of a year, that yet again I haven’t done things I wanted to. The scary feeling of wasting time and being stuck, letting life go by. I believe having a list and going after those things will help it, sometimes even forcing yourself to do so.
Can’t remember where I heard this quote but it’s a great one. You can’t expect to make progress if you’re not moving. Can’t expect things to happen without effort. Can’t expect to get to the next level without taking a single step. Most importantly, you can’t trust you still have time tomorrow. Whatever that is that gives you the feeling of being truly alive, whether that’s achieving goals or just taking a breather and existing right in this moment, you should do that. Never take today for granted either. Work on something that matters to you – make today meaningful.
What are your goals for this year?
